Rick Wapinsky

Guitarist and vocalist Rick Wapinsky is originally from Cressona, PA. Rick wanted to be a drummer but his dad persuaded him to take up a "quieter" instrument. He took guitar lessons for four years and was in his first band at the age of twelve. Rick played in three Pottsville, PA area bands during high school then joined the immensely popular "V.I.P.'S" in late 1979 while attending college in Williamsport. He performed with them until late 1986, when he moved west to Bakersfield, CA.

While in Bakersfield Rick developed an appreciation for country music, having seen Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, Waylon Jennings, The Mavericks, and Asleep At The Wheel in concert. He returned to Pennsylvania in 1995 but the restaurant business offered little time for music. A career change allowed Rick to perform after a 15-year hiatus and TOP SHELF was formed in 2006.

Rick's influences include The Beatles, The Eagles and guitar heroes George Benson, Robben Ford, Brian Setzer, Neal Schon, Jeff Beck, and the late blues legends Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore.

Rick and family reside in Loyalsock Township, Williamsport, PA
