TOP SHELF drummer and vocalist Dave DeCapria spent his formative years in the capital city of Albany, NY. Both of his parents were professional dancers, so music constantly filled their home. Early on the giants of the Big Band Era featuring Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa and vocalists such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin influenced Dave's drumming and singing. Shortly after came the golden era of AM rock and roll which had a major musical impact that lasts to this day. As the band's designated "crooner" you can quickly tell that Dave's vocal style is perfectly suited for the Golden Oldies heard at our shows.

In 1972 Dave's family settled in Avis, PA and operated a great pizzeria in neighboring Jersey Shore. A few years later Dave joined his first band, "Just 4". In late 1979 Dave joined the immensely popular "Tony Caschera And The V.I.P.'s" with their new guitar player Rick Wapinsky. After several years as a sideman Dave formed his own band "Survivors", who were a fixture on the club scene in North-Central PA for over eight years. Before joining Top Shelf in 2016, Dave performed with an oldies show band based in Altoona, PA called "My Dad's Friends".

Dave has been in the used car business most of his adult life and it is still his day job. He and wife Judy reside in Mill Hall, Clinton County.
